How do i know if the zombie is dead? (stupid question)
You see the blood. Sometimes because of the brightness it's hard to tell. If you walk backwards from the zombie the character will move back wary.

How can i get more ammo for the advanced mode?
Simply highlight advanced mode and hold the right movment button until it turns green, then start the game as normal and you will have double ammo.
